About Zarah Lopez

Keep on Moving

I am a Personal and Group Physical Education Instructor and I specialize in training women of all ages. I enjoy diversity and I enjoy training and transmitting my passion for a healthy way of life with all people, especially those who have a desire to change and become a better version of themselves.

Through proper exercise, anyone can achieve and maintain a better quality of life, even for doing basic activities such as shopping or doing family activities.

I developed my love for physical activity since I was young; I had the need to improve myself, ignore physical pain or shortness of breath in short races. I liked the feeling of knowing that I had surpassed myself the next day, week or month. I could always hear the voice of my grandmother —who could not walk due to the damage to her joints and her obesity— telling me "Don't reach my age like this."

I studied architecture in Mexico but then moved to the US, where the difference in building methods made my studies useless. So, little by little, my desire to improve myself led me to become a Zumba instructor, which unites two more of my passions: exercise and dancing. Eventually, I discovered that dancing is not for everyone, so I became certified as a Group Exercise Instructor (GFI), to have the ability to help more people in more areas of fitness. Soon after that, I discovered STRONG Nation, a type of HIIT exercise, and I became certified to be able to teach it as well. I still love teaching Zumba, though; I even certified to teach it to children and senior adults. Why Zumba? Because for me dancing is a form of aerobic exercise that never becomes boring and that causes instant joy.

I like to call myself a Physical Education Instructor — since the word Fitness can be intimidating due to its stronger connotation, as in having big muscles and the minimum amount of fatty tissue. I like to listen and understand people, support their needs and goals and, above all, promote an active way of life that allows them to achieve physical, emotional and mental improvements regardless of their age and fitness level.

I maintain my passion for learning and I am always striving to become better at what I do through learning, taking more courses and certifications, and listening to people from whom I can always learn more.
